My fiance and I were flying with Air Canada and my fiance is ion crutches/wheelchair due to a broken ankle she got on our visit to Sault Ste. Marie The older woman that works at the counter of Air Canada ( short white hair, glasses ) was nothing but difficult and pretty ignorant during the whole check in process and then proceeded to split us up on the flight even though we are booked together under the same listing and there was seats available beside eachother. As a person who works for an airline I found this completely ignorant and disrespectful all around. I will also be filing a formal complaint with Air Canada as well. Mistreatment of people just because they are flying standby is pretty absurd. Toronto never gives issues like this and on the contrary they try their hardest to make sure that each passenger ( standby and confirmed ) are flying comfortable- especially when someone is walking with crutches and has to be pushed in a wheelchair.

Owner reply: Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are very sorry to hear about the difficulties you and your fiancée encountered while checking in for your Air Canada flight at Sault Ste. Marie Airport. We understand how stressful air travel can be, particularly when mobility assistance is required, and we sincerely regret that your experience did not reflect the level of courtesy and accommodation that passengers should expect, especially in a situation involving a medical injury and the need for wheelchair assistance. While Air Canada staff are employed and managed directly by the airline, your concerns regarding customer service, seating arrangements, and treatment of standby passengers are important and valid. We take feedback such as yours seriously, as it helps ensure a positive experience for all travelers using our airport. Please be assured that we will pass your comments along to Air Canada’s local management team for their awareness and follow-up. We also acknowledge your intention to file a formal complaint directly with Air Canada, which is appropriate, as they are best positioned to review the matter and respond in detail. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate you choosing to travel through Sault Ste. Marie Airport and hope your future travel experiences are far more positive.

No problems at all. Today had bare runways and no delays. Luggage very quick. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make things work!

We’re pleased to hear that runway conditions were clear, operations ran smoothly, and your luggage arrived quickly. Your kind words are greatly appreciated and will be shared with our airport and airline partners. Marie Airport, and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

On an early porter flight just last week March2, security refused to let me have my partners eczema wash and cream. The guy couldn't get off his chair. The woman kept checking with him. In the end she confiscated about 5 items . I had an unwell partner to get boarded as he was having his surgery Wednesday at st michael's hospital. I found them very rude, unreasonable, as he was allowed to take in Dec for an earlier surgery through same airport. Not a prescription but needed medically are, allowed. I stopped trying to reason with them. Our carry-on went on the cart with his walker. The ironic part? After take off we are given 330 ml bottles of water. I feel like I was robbed of expensive medically needed creams. Another 40$ spent in Toronto to acquire for my partner. I hope they enjoyed the products as they were all new. Power tripping.

Owner reply: Thank you for sharing this with us. We’re sorry to hear how stressful and upsetting that experience was, especially with everything you and your partner were dealing with at the time. For awareness, CATSA’s rules treat creams, washes, lotions, and similar products as liquids, aerosols, and gels, which must be in containers of 100 ml / 100 g or less and fit inside a single clear 1L bag when carried on. They do list exceptions which apply to prescription medicines and essential non‑prescription medical liquids when declared to the screening officer for inspection. https://www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca/en/what-can-bring/liquids-non-solid-food-personal-items We will follow up with CATSA regarding your feedback so they are aware of what happened. Thank you again for taking the time to let us know, and we truly hope your partner’s surgery and recovery have gone as smoothly as possible. If there is anything more you’d like us to pass along, we’re here to help, feel free contact us. https://saultairport.com/contact/

Parking lot is never plowed and pathway to airport from lot not shovelled properly. You pay a premium parking rate and its sub par maintenance. The washroom is never well maintained. Paper towel left on countertops instead of holders on wall. Faucets never work right either.

Owner reply: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re very sorry to hear about the condition of the parking lot, walkways, and washroom during your visit. We aim to provide safe, accessible, and well‑maintained facilities, and we regret that this was not your experience. We’ve shared your concerns with our operations and maintenance teams so these issues can be addressed promptly. Proper plowing and shovelling of pedestrian areas is essential, especially during winter conditions, and we’ll be reviewing our response procedures to ensure improvements are made. Regarding the washroom, we apologize for the upkeep not meeting expectations. Even without paper towel dispensers, the counters should remain clean, and faucets should be functioning properly. We will be following up with staff to ensure these standards are consistently met. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. Your feedback helps us improve the experience for all travellers. If you would like to speak with us directly or provide additional details, we’d be happy to connect.
